Thank you Jean for introducing us to a lot of great and useful information!!
Many things were new for me, and from time to time I struggled, but I can't wait to try what I learned with my learners!!

Today we were looking at using Language Laboratories on LMS and using forums on LMS. For a language tracher this could be a very useful tool to practice listening and speaking. At Bow VAlley College, we use Blackboard as an LMS and I explored the site and couldn't find this function; however, I plan to further investigate it to see if such a thing exists to use with Blackboard.

Then Jean introduced our final assignment. It consists of filming an introduction on Photobooth, Outlining and instruction page, making an activity using our language function, a video reviewing the concept, and finally adding a Cultural video or fact. It seems fairly straight forward, but switching from Mac to PC caused me some problems again today. Every time i try going from one to the other, I get tripped up. Hopefully I figure it out soon and can get on with my lesson.

July 12th

We started today's class where we left off yesterday, working with imovie. Yesterday my group including Kelly, Sarah and myself were struggling, but today things went much more smoothly until we hit a wall and Jean couldn't fix it so we had to start all over again. Finally we got it done complete with transitions, music, credits and a title. We are feeling much better about it now.

After that we got an introduction to using SMART boards. I know that A lot of teachers that work for the board know how to use them, but at Bow Valley College we don't have ready access to SMART boards, so it is new for me. It seems like there are a lot of interesting things that you can do with a SMART board and I wish that I had to opportunety to learn more about it and try it for myself.

Then we did an activity using the SMART clickers. We do have A CPS system that we use at BVC, but it uses different technology. Almost everything we did today was new for me!

TPACK ASSIGNMENT

TPACK- Assignment by Kelly, Sarah and Charlotte
General Outcome 2: Indentify and explain conflict and discuss how it develops and may be resolved.

Goal:  The goal for this assignment is to write short story focusing on conflict.  They will create the story in pairs or in small groups. Once the story is written they will switch their stories with another group for peer editing purposes.  Once the editing is complete they will present their story in a picture book form.

Technology: To write the story the groups will be asked to use Titan Pad or Google Docs as a cooperative process, this will enable each student to contribute equally.  For the editing aspect, the other peer group can edit and save the various changes to the document and the group can see the changes that were made.  Once the story is completed the groups can choose to either create a story book project in Flip Snack or they can take digital pictures to visually show the images of their story and use Windows Movie Maker to create a video.  They can use the audio to record their story for the audience to hear.

July 11th

Today in class we leared all about the possible uses of film clips in class. Using video lessons for homework can maximize a students chance for practice in a language class.

After that we started to learn step by step how to use ivideo. this was completely a new experience for me. I have never had the opportunety to use this program before and it presented quite a challenge. I started off well; however, as things progressed, I got a little more confused. I think that the program is fairly use friendly, but I am not confident in my ability to use it as of yet, hopefully that will come with more practice.

July 8th

Today we started off the class looking at the TPACK model and the importance of making a plan before choosing technology, that we should look at the content and pedagogy before technology.

After that we spent time looking at some fabulous websites that could be used in a variety of ways for a variety of reasons. Some of the sites that I found to be most interesting were Wall wisher, Picnik, Flipsnack and Prezi. The only one that I had ever seen before was Prezi, so the other were a great discovery for me.

Also going to the sites Bloom and Web 2.0 , Web 2.0 Cool tools for school ,  Go2Web20 were great because they have collections of great sites that I can explore and see what could be useful for me to use in my classroom. Overall everything we looked at today will be useful! I can't wait to try them out!!!
